props
In our OTS we used many different props to help our Symbolic linear storyline. The symbolic section of our OTS included many different props such as a rope, knife, cards, baseball bat, baby and phone of which most of them were used to show symbolism.
Rope |
Knife |
The use of the rope was tied around a hand which represents life and how it can become difficult by becoming tighter. Furthermore, it could also represent the twisted nature of the antagonist. This was used to show the audience how the killer has very twisted in his thoughts which reveals a bit of a backstory as to why the killer is like this.
|
A knife was used as the killer's weapon because a knife is seen as a personal extension of the body which represents the weapon as part of them and not just an object they use. This shows that they could be vindictive and sadistic.
|
Cards |
Baseball Bat |
The card symbolises a perverse desire to turn the killing into a game where the victim is gambling for their life. This might entertain the killers thoughts and make it more of a sport than a murder. This brings a more disturbing aspect to the horror.
|
The bat symbolises the brutal physicality of the killer and their desires to kill. It also shows how powerful the killer is due to them scrapping the bat across the floor. This provides an eerie setting where the killer can intimidate.
|
Baby |
Phone |
The baby symbolises a twisted childhood in which the child could of been abused which leads to a future where the child becomes a killer that is psychologically troubled. This leads them to develop a disturbing desire to kill or injure someone.
|
A phone is used to symbolise safety and security as they have the ability to communicate with anyone they need to. This creates a false sense of security as you think she's safe when she isn't.
